Other Programs, Activities, and Opportunities
The First Tee of Memphis also operates:
Monday Evening USGA / LPGA Girls’ Golf – Intended for girls age 8-17, USGA / LPGA Girls’ Golf provides an opportunity for girls from various backgrounds to come together and learn valuable lessons while creating lasting friendships and learning to play the great game of golf. Any girl registered in any of our core programs may attend our girls’ program at no additional cost. Our Girls’ Golf program follows the same program content as our regular Saturday program.
Tuesday/Thursday Community Golf Night – This program provides an opportunity for juniors age 8-18 from various communities across the city to come together and learn valuable lessons while creating lasting friendships and learning to play the great game of golf. Any girl or boy in any of our core programs may attend this program at no additional cost. This program brings together girls and boys from different community groups and they follow the same program content as our regular Saturday program.
Golf Programs at Local Schools:
University of Memphis Short Putts to Spring and Fall – Sports Psychology program conducted in conjunction with the U of M that is designed to enhance participants communication, self-awareness and mental skills using golf as the vehicle.
Other Activities, Opportunities, and Resources available to First Tee participants:
Tee It Up To Be A Lady – a special part of our USGA/LPGA Girls Golf program on Monday evenings designed to allow young ladies to discuss and learn about issues of importance to them without any men present.
Bennie Minor Golf Tournament – This our annual fund-raising tournament. Participants from Par and above are teamed with area business leaders.
Driving Range/Complete with Target Greens – The driving range and practice areas are available anytime to Par-Eagle students when accompanied by an adult or with special permission given.
FedEx St. Jude Championship – special access to behind-the-scenes tournament activities as well as tickets to attend the tournament
Clinics and Instruction with PGA Professionals – including Loren Roberts, Shaun Micheel, Doug Barron, Vance Veasey, Jon Goin and Casey Whittenberg and others as available
USGA Rules Classroom – The room contains a mock-up of an imaginary golf hole to show various situations encountered on a golf course and how the rules apply to those situations.
Indoor Simulator – This computer technology allows students to practice indoors with a screen and projector. It simulates a driving range or any one of 38 world-famous golf courses where you can play 18 holes indoors. All levels of participants are welcome to schedule time in the machine as long as they have adult supervision. (Currently inactive but coming back in the future)
